Isabella is a teenager who had a family that has been living in hungary for a long time. Nazis are almost to hungary where thousands of jews lived including isabellas family. Her father wanted to escape befor Nazis got their, only he escaped leaving his family behind.

jews were herded into cars and not feed for a long time to Auschwitz. Mrs.Frieds little girl sarah died in her arms. Mrs.Hirschs aged father died shortly after.

the trains reached Auschwitz and nazis were shouting Los!Los! the nazis pushed the jews out of the cars and herded them twordes a man directing them one way or another. this is called selection.

When the cattle cars arrived ,most of the killing was done right there on the scene. The prisoners were sent either to the left or the right. The prisoners that where sent to the left were led directaly to their deaths by Dr.Mengele. The Nazis said thet they where going to take a nice hot shower, but instead they gassed the prisoners with carbon monoxide. Those sent to the right were to work for the nazis. They slept in blocks that where made out of wood and often colapsed. Thousands of prisoners were fit into the blocks.

The roll calls took hours to count all of the prisoners. Any one who moved out of line was beat by the kapo. The food the nazis gave the prisoners was soup and bread. The bread was mixed with flour and sawdust. Dr. Mengle decided who was to live or die He looked for the strong and healthy to live and the rest to die. All left in Isabella's family stood straight and tall, even on their tiptoes to look taller to pass insnpection.

Isabella got a message from philip saying, "You must live. You simply must. I love you." During the sixth month they spent in Auschwitz Isabella saw many prisoners starve to death.Chicha was forced to kneel and hold two rocks in the air for roll call. The Nazi official said that she would be sorry if she droped them.

Issabella was moved from Auschwitz to a concentration camp in eastern germany. She sleeped in a hutlike wood barrack. The floor was the gravel graound. no incilation for wormth or cold. The Nazis made all the prisoners line up in rows of five and marched to Bergen-Belson another concentration camp.
